Barreal

Jimmy and I spent 4 nights over the Easter weekend in Barreal in the San Juan region of northern Argentina. Posada San Eduardo was our home, good food and wine and horses 24 hours a day.

Just south of Barreal there is a large lake which was rather short of water the day we visited. Jimmy reckoned he would like a shot of driving. It was only after he was behind the wheel that he told me he had not driven for 25 years! The breakfast room at Posada San Eduardo in Barreal. Great place ... owned by an ex Formula 1 racing driver.

Jimmy smokes his last cigarette before the big equestrian trip. Loading up the pack horse. Senior Ever Palacio ....
our master horseman.

Doesn't Jimmy look cool? Ever rounding me up after my horse would not obey my perfectly good instructions. When you get this horse going
he is hard to stop.

Hi Mum! Nightime round the campfire
with real gauchos.
We load up the pack mule for the journey home. The blindfold is so the guy will stand still and not kick.

The campsite is down there somewhere. Funny it looked different when we arrived in the dark. The landscape was just amazing. Luckily it was the dry season or we would have been swimming. Doesn't my horse have lovely ears?
