From The Catlins we drove north through Dunedin to The Otago Peninsula.
Home of seals, penguins and the only mainland Royal Albatross nesting site in the world.

Linzi make a friend of a
Southern Fur Seal.
The Yellow-eyed penguin is an endangered species ..... ....they were moulting when
we were there.

The Moeraki Boulders are between Dunedin and Christchurch. Formed around a core of carbonate of lime crystals which attracted minerals from their surroundings - a process which started sixty million years ago. Our last 2 nights in the camper
van were spent at Kelceys Bush Farmyard Park. A beautifully
quiet and restful place.

They have a collection of wild and domestic animals (for the kids - honest) and we went on Nocturnal Bushwalk to go Wallaby and Possum spotting. www.kiwicamps.com  Chrishchurch is a beautiful city.
The feel of a traditional English University town but with lively bar
and restaurants. Plus punting on
the River Avon.
The International Antarctic Centre in Christchurch (where the expeditions leave from) gives you an idea of what it is like to live and work on Antarctica.

We spent 2 nights in Christchurch staying at The Heritage Suites
in Cathedral Square, our most luxurious hotel by far.
